Dallas Mavericks star point guard Luka Doncic missed Wednesday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to lower back tightness.
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle revealed the news to reporters during his pregame media availability. Earlier in the day, Dallas had downgraded Doncic from questionable to doubtful.
Carlisle said Doncic has been battling the issue for about 2 1/2 weeks.
He also said that Doncic is still expected to play in Sunday's All-Star Game in Atlanta.
Doncic, 22, also is scheduled to participate in the Skills Challenge earlier Sunday.
The two-time All-Star is averaging 28.6 points, 9.0 assists and 8.4 rebounds in 32 games this season. He has recorded seven triple-doubles to raise his career count to 32 in 165 games.
Wednesday's game is the second he has sat out this season.
Jalen Brunson and Trey Burke figure to see more action with Doncic sidelined.
