Kyle Juszczyk, coming off his ninth consecutive Pro Bowl season, will be released by the San Francisco 49ers, multiple media outlets reported on Monday.
The move will save the 49ers more than $2.9 million toward this year's salary cap. Juszczyk was set to make a $4.1 million base salary in 2025 with a $6.5 million cap figure in the final season of a five-year contract.
Juszczyk, 33, is coming off his second All-Pro season -- each in the past two years. The fullback produced 26 yards and a touchdown on five carries, and he had 200 yards and two TDs on 19 receptions.
He said following the season finale, according to ESPN, 'I know I'm not done. I'm definitely not done playing. I've seen zero regression. I think especially, I mean, you can turn on the last two games and please show me where I've regressed, so I have no plans of stopping.'
Niners teammate George Kittle reacted to the news Friday by tweeting two emojis, a broken heart and a juice box.
In eight seasons with the 49ers, Juszczyk had 60 carries for 212 yards and five touchdowns plus 184 catches for 1,895 yards and 13 scores.
The Baltimore Ravens selected Juszczyk in the fourth round of the 2013 draft out of Harvard, and he spent four seasons with the franchise.
Overall, in 189 NFL games (142 starts), he has 67 carries for 237 yards and six touchdowns to go with 281 receptions for 2,664 yards and 18 TDs.
