Bam Adebayo recorded 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists to help the Miami Heat post a 130-117 victory over the host Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
Norman Powell scored 22 points and Andrew Wiggins added 19 as Miami improved to 1-1 on a five-game road trip. Pelle Larsson registered 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds and Simone Fontecchio matched his career best of five 3-pointers while contributing 15 points and seven assists off the bench.
DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and Russell Westbrook added 22 for the Kings, who lost their second straight game to fall to 4-2 on a seven-game homestand.
Zach LaVine and backup Malik Monk each added 18 points and Dylan Cardwell collected a career-best 12 rebounds for Sacramento. Domantas Sabonis had 10 rebounds and six points in 17 minutes off the bench in his third contest after missing 27 in a row due to a knee injury.
Miami was a stellar 21 of 42 from 3-point range. In addition to Fontecchio, Adebayo and Powell each knocked down four and Wiggins made three.
Overall, the Heat shot 48% from the field. Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Miami.
The Kings made 50.6% of their shots and were 11 of 30 from behind the arc.
Powell's basket capped an 8-0 burst that saw the Heat take a 92-76 lead with 6:15 left in the third quarter.
Miami led 100-89 entering the final stanza before padding the lead. The Heat again pushed the lead to 16 on Fontecchio's 3-pointer with 9:18 to play.
Fontecchio drained another trey to make it 113-96 with 7:13 remaining. Monk answered with five straight points to get Sacramento within 12 but Wiggins scored consecutive baskets for Miami to make it 119-103 with 4:26 left and the Heat finished off the victory.
Miami was 15 of 24 from 3-point range in the first half while taking a 77-64 lead. Powell made 4 of 5 treys while scoring 15 points. LaVine had 12 first-half points for Sacramento.
The Heat led 32-25 after one quarter before connecting on 9 of 13 from behind the arc in the second.
Still, the Kings trailed just 64-57 after a basket by Maxime Raynaud with 2:37 left. But Miami finished strong with Wiggins drilling a trey with 1.8 seconds left for the 13-point advantage.
