Ketel Marte capped a four-run bottom of the ninth inning with a two-out, three-run home run, lifting the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 5-3 walk-off win over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday in Phoenix.
After Giants relievers retained a 3-1 lead by pitching out of bases-loaded jams in the seventh and eighth inning, Ildemaro Vargas ignited the winning rally in the ninth with a leadoff single against Caleb Kilian (1-2).
Two outs later, Adrian Del Castillo singled home Vargas before Ryan Waldschmidt reached on a catcher's interference, setting the stage for Marte, who deposited Matt Gage's second pitch into the left field seats.
The homer was Marte's sixth of the year.
Arizona's Jonathan Loaisiga (1-1) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.
The walk-off win was the Diamondbacks' second of the season, while the Giants endured their fourth walk-off defeat of the young campaign.
After Corbin Carroll tripled and scored on a Luis Arraez throwing error to give the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead two batters into the bottom of the first, the Giants did the rest of the night's scoring until the ninth.
Rafael Devers led off the second with his sixth homer, and Willy Adames launched Ryne Nelson's next offering over the left field fence, giving the Giants a 2-1 lead. It was Adames' fifth of the year.
San Francisco scored a third run later in the inning when Daniel Susac doubled home Matt Chapman, who had singled.
Landen Roupp, who stood to earn his first win in May after entering the month 5-1, allowed just one run and seven hits in his six-plus innings. He struck out three and did not walk anyone.
Nelson was charged with all three Giants runs on eight hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Nolan Arenado had two doubles for the Diamondbacks, who won their third straight game. Vargas, Del Castillo and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. added two hits apiece.
Devers and Susac each had two hits for the Giants, who fell to 4-5 on their 10-game trip.
