Ketel Marte had three hits and scored three times, Geraldo Perdomo capped a three-run fifth inning with a two-run double and the Arizona Diamondbacks completed a three-game home sweep of the San Francisco Giants with a 6-3 victory Wednesday afternoon.
Merrill Kelly pitched six effective innings and four relievers combined for three hitless innings the rest of the way for Arizona, which won its season-best-tying fourth game in a row.
Casey Schmitt homered off Kelly in the first and the Giants tacked on single runs in the second and fourth, producing a 3-3 tie that starter Tyler Mahle (1-6) took into the bottom of the fifth.
That's when the Diamondbacks took the lead for good. Consecutive singles by Tim Tawa and Ryan Waldschmidt and a bunt single by Marte loaded the bases with no outs, after which an Ildemaro Vargas RBI groundout put Arizona in front before Perdomo doubled to right to plate the game's final runs.
Kelly (4-3) allowed all three Giants runs and eight hits in his six innings. He struck out four without issuing a walk.
Brandyn Garcia, Taylor Clarke and Brandon Pfaadt protected the three-run cushion into the ninth, where Paul Sewald needed just 13 pitches to lock down save No. 11.
Mahle was charged with all six Arizona runs on eight hits in his five innings. He struck out six and didn't walk anyone.
Marte, who launched his seventh home run of the season in the third inning, finished 3-for-3 and added two RBIs for the Diamondbacks, who out-hit the Giants 9-8.
Waldschmidt scored twice after a pair of hits, and Jose Fernandez also had two singles.
Bryce Eldridge and Drew Gilbert delivered RBI hits for the Giants, who completed a 4-6 road trip. Matt Chapman singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Schmitt's homer was his ninth of the year.
